Washington Township fourth grader, cancer survivor to be 'Honored Hero' at Light the Night walk

ELLIE HAS BEEN SELECTED AS THE LEUKEMIA AND LYMPHOMA SOCIETY'S HONORED HERO FOR 2012! She will be honored, at the Light the Night fundraising event this year at the Camden Riversharks Stadium. Please JOIN OUR TEAM or DONATE to our team today!!

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night walk is on October 20, 2012. The event funds lifesaving research and support for people battling cancer. The night inclludes music, food, and family activities. Anyone can take part-kids, adults and seniors are welcome! This is a casual walk, done at a leisurely pace, which usually takes about a half an hour. Please join us in taking the first step toward a brighter future for blood cancer patients by registering for the Light the Night Walk on October 20, 2012 in Camden, NJ. The type of cancer that Ellie Koerner is battling is Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). It occurs in 1 out of every 29,000 children in the United States each year. The improvement in survival for children with ALL over the past 35 years is one of the great success stories of cancer treatment. In the 1960s, less than 5 percent of children with ALL survived for more than five years. Today, about 85 percent of children with ALL live five years or more. Ellie WILL be one of the survivors. With the improvements in chemotherapy, her blood will be cured. With all of your love and support, our hearts will be healed.
